| California Underwater Glider Network - Along Shore Transect
| The overarching goal of the California Underwater Glider Network is to sustain baseline observations of climate variability off the coast of California. The technical approach is to deploy autonomous underwater gliders in a network to provide real-time data.\nThe CUGN uses Spray underwater gliders making repeated dives from the surface to 500 m and back, repeating the cycle every 3 hours, and traveling 3 km in the horizontal during that time. The CUGN includes gliders on three of the traditional cross-shore California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries Investigations (CalCOFI) lines: line 66.7 off Monterey Bay, line 80 off Point Conception, and line 90 off Dana Point.\n The glider missions typically last about 100 days, and cover over 2000 km, thus providing 4-6 sections on lines extending 300-500 km offshore. Since 2005 the CUGN has covered 200,000 km over ground in 28 glider-years, while doing 90,000 dives.\n\ncdm_data_type = TrajectoryProfile\nVARIABLES:\nprofile\nmission (Mission name of each trajectory)\ndepth (m)\ntime (seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nlatitude (degrees_north)\nlongitude (degrees_east)\ntemperature (Sea Water Temperature, degree_C)\nsalinity (Sea Water Practical Salinity, 1)\nchlorophyll_a (Chlorophyll-a concentration, mg m-3)\ndoxy (Dissolved oxygen, micromol kg-1)\nacoustic_backscatter (dB)\nacoustic_backscatter_flag\nu (Eastward Sea Water Velocity, m s-1)\nv (Northward Sea Water Velocity, m s-1)\ntime_uv (Time, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nlat_uv (Latitude, degrees_north)\nlon_uv (Longitude, degrees_east)\nu_depth_mean (Depth-Averaged Eastward Sea Water Velocity, m s-1)\nv_depth_mean (Depth-Averaged Northward Sea Water Velocity, m s-1)\n

As part of PEACH, Spray gliders surveyed along the upper continental slope and across the outer continental shelf for more than two years during a series of missions from spring 2017 to spring 2019. Typical sampling was to a maximum depth of 500 m or to within a few meters of the seafloor in shallower water; occasional deeper sampling occurred if gliders encountered adverse currents. | {Experimental} OG-1.0 format example for Spray Glider Mission 23202801 (sp028-20230202T1637)
| Experimental data file example for the OG-1.0 spec. This dataset contains a subset of Spray glider data from mission 23202801, part of the California Underwater Glider Network (CUGN) project. The full mission ran from 2023-02-02 to 2023-05-25. \n\nThe overarching goal of the California Underwater Glider Network is to sustain baseline observations of climate variability off the coast of California. Since 2005 the CUGN has covered 200,000 km over ground in 28 glider-years, while doing 90,000 dives.\n\ncdm_data_type = Trajectory\nVARIABLES:\ntrajectory (Trajectory Name)\nprofile_index (Profile Number)\ntime_profile (seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\ntime_profile_qc (Profile Time Quality Flag)\nlatitude_profile (Profile Latitude, Mid-Point, degrees_north)\nlatitude_profile_qc (Profile Latitude Mid-Point Quality Flag, degrees_north)\nlatitude_uv (Latitude of Underwater Segment Mid-Point Estimate, degrees_north)\nlatitude_uv_qc (Latitude of Underwater Segment Mid-Point Estimate Quality Flag, degrees_north)\nlongitude_profile (Profile Mid-Point Longitude, degrees_east)\nlongitude_profile_qc (Profile Longitude Quality Flag, degrees_east)\nlongitude_uv (Longitude of Underwater Segment (Mid-Point Estimate), degrees_east)\nlongitude_uv_qc (Longitude of Underwater Segment (Mid-Point Estimate) Quality Flag, degrees_east)\ntime_uv (Time Estimate for Underwater Segment, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\n...
